PARENTING & ADULT BIG EMOTIONS COACH
TESTIMONIALS about working with ANI SPOONER

Ani has greatly exceeded our expectations in her coaching sessions both for us as parents and for our 14 year old son. Her heart radiates unconditional love and true compassion, validating both sides of the challenges that parents and children face in their relationships. She guides her clients into deeper awareness and clarity and provides practical strategies to bring more connection between family members.

Each time Ani works with our son we are amazed by her brilliant ability to instantly understand, validate, and guide him, while it takes us many times longer to understand the complexity of our son’s inner world.

Some gifts are priceless beyond measure and Ani is one of them. Our son is opening up and expressing his emotions for the first time in his life, learning non-violent communication, and finding a new level of inner harmony as Ani guides him along his path.

Working with Ani was a wonderful experience.  The connection and understanding she provided me was a huge relief with regards to the struggles I have faced parenting my two neurodiverse boys. As a neurodiverse single mom, I have often felt inadequate when trying to provide my boys with the tools and skills needed to help them sufficiently.  Ani helped me to gain perspective and insight into my feelings and behaviours therefore allowing me to explore alternatives to repeating the frustrating unproductive cycle my boys and I were stuck in.  I am very grateful to Ani for all her help. I would highly recommend Ani for your neurodiverse mental health needs!

Simply put: Ani Spooner is my guardian angel.
She is warm, kind, and genuine. The things I am learning from her feel like superpowers.
The impact of our time together will be felt for the rest of my life: as a more complete individual, a friend, a romantic partner, and a father. I cannot recommend her enough!

I've been having parenting sessions with Ani for 8 months now, and I can say that she has been a light in the dark. I started at a very low point of my self esteem as a parent of one neurodiverse child and another suffering with deep anxiety.
Ani has a great experience and a listening attitude that puts you at ease. I felt welcomed by her smiling eyes from the first minute and able to open the flood of emotions that were weighing me down. She taught me several strategies to interact with my kids and helped me to look into their world more easily. I'm very grateful I've encountered her in my life!

"Ani entered our life at a time when we didn't quite know what we were looking for, other than knowing we needed help. Her tone soothed us immediately. We felt listened to, understood and at no point did she judge us for our parenting mistakes or personality flaws. She took the time to understand our needs, our goals, our parenting philosophy and our preferences. Her assessment was on point and her knowledge of the topic at hand was obvious.

Over the weeks, she explored our family life but also our childhoods, shedding light on it in a new way and highlighting elements that we had never connected. How she managed to dig so deep in our hearts over the space of just a few hours spent together via webcam will always amaze us.

Managing big emotions was our initial challenge. Understanding more about ourselves and specific needs and characteristics of people in our family was a side effect of consulting Ani that we will forever be grateful for. Better relationships, happier parents and children, as well as a more peaceful household were the result of her teaching and our commitment to her methods.

Let's be honest, the work we started with Ani is not finished, I doubt it ever will be. Although Ani's tools appear so simple and obvious (because she explains them so well with all the scientific background for it), they require strong will and dedication to change. To be even more honest, there are days where we still fail miserably at using the methods. We consider her support throughout the implementation to be essential for us. As we progressed with the skills we were learning, she underlined our successes and gently identified the areas of improvement, for which she provided us with specific tools and coping strategies.

We wish Ani came into our lives many years ago, she is a precious ally of our happiness."

We are so glad that we found Ani! Our 6-year old was recently diagnosed with ADHD-Hyperactive Impulsive and we had more questions than answers. In the first few sessions working with Ani, she helped us understand how he learns, the best ways to modify behaviour, how to help him with 'big feelings', and even what to expect if we consider medication. In a nutshell, she is helping us parent him in a way that works for our family (while keeping our sanity!). She is empathetic, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. I have already recommended her to others.

"Our kids are forces of nature. Ani helped us understand them and figure out who they really are and what they need from us. Her sessions were the perfect shelter from the storm; she gave us practical and judgment-free advice, which is hard to find."

Ani, you changed our lives. You have taught me how to connect with my kids. You have helped me manage my child’s anxiety. Your approach is so on point, kind, you are never judgemental and a great listener. I am so lucky to have met you and be able to share with you my struggles. You have helped me overcome a lot. So Thank you!

I have had an extensive medical history that spans back to 1974. I have met with some of Canada’s leading psychiatrists and psychologists and have spent many hours in rooms chatting over many years due to my health conditions of which there are many.

I was looking for a person that would help me and change the way that I was thinking helping me to find a foundation based on truths, a foundation to love myself and the opportunity to think of myself as someone that could be far more than I was at the moment.

Those pesky moments where one is judging themselves, mentally thinking constantly that they are not good enough, the anxiety that fills your day and in some cases paralyzes you. If any of this rings a bell in any way, I can think of no better person than Ani to work with. She is talented, insightful, thoughtful, will help you work and give you ways in which those ideas become less. She is keen to see her clients excel giving one guidelines and homework that they complete between sessions. I was sceptical at first having spoken to so many different people over the years. She is the FIRST person that I have ever worked with that has helped move my life in the way that she has.

I am meditating which is calming my ADHD symptoms down, I am writing and listening to pod casts and exploring the world of what ADHD is and different ways that I can work with it in a non judgemental way. All thanks to the work that I have done because of what Ani has taught me. My life is so much brighter and more rewarding thanks to her.

I would emplore anyone that has ADHD to reach out and start working with her as she is one of the best people I have ever come across in my life to deal with such matters. You shall not be disappointed!

We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have Ani as our parenting coach for our daughter. What sets Ani apart is her unwavering dedication – it's more than a job to her; it's a heartfelt commitment to our success as parents.

Ani's positivity and personal approach create an environment beyond the traditional coaching dynamic. She doesn't just guide; she invests herself in ensuring our growth as parents. It's evident that for Ani, success isn't just measured in milestones; it's in the strengthened bonds and thriving families she helps create.

Remarkably, Ani doesn't stop at parenting insights. She actively prompts us to explore methods of self-care throughout the process. Her holistic approach recognizes the interconnected nature of our well-being and its direct impact on our ability to parent effectively.

In summary, Ani isn't just a parenting coach; she's a partner in our journey. Her commitment to our success goes beyond the call of duty, and we are immensely grateful for her positive impact on our family.

With gratitude,

GD and NR

"Before Ani, I was struggling to connect with my daughters. I felt hopeless and at a loss how to help my girls regulate and navigate their extreme emotions in a healthy way. One has possible ADHD and the other is neurodivergent.

Ani is professional, eloquent, non-judgemental, patient and compassionate.

She offered practical strategies, techniques and clarity that has helped all of us through our challenging journey. Her invaluable support and helpful tools have significantly improved my relationship with my children. Ani is a gem and I am so grateful for her :)"

Ani provides an empathetic ear and judgement-free environment to discuss navigating life as a neurodivergent person. With her knowledge and experience with ADHD and neurodivergence she was able to help me identify practical strategies for challenges I was encountering. Working with Ani I always felt heard and validated which was very important to me as someone with a later-in-life diagnosis.

I'm

Ani has had such a positive impact on our family. Her support and understanding of parenting neurodivergent children led to small incremental changes that my wife and I could implement which have made the world of difference.

On a personal level, being neurodivergent myself, I was having a really tough time with parenting my 5-year-old and our relationship was fraught with arguments. We really struggled to connect as father and son; however, Ani helped me not only validate and understand my own neurodivergent history, but also how to validate my son’s feelings and communicate with him effectively. To say my relationship with my son has improved would be a dramatic understatement. I credit Ani with facilitating that change and will be forever grateful that we were able to break the negative cycle we were in.

Ani gave us answers when we had none. Having personal experience with ADHD and ASD, she helped us to have our son properly diagnosed, treated, develop a school IEP among many other advices. Her insight on ASD individuals and their cognitive strengths and weaknesses continues to help our son grow up with more confidence and less anxiety to the point that his school's Principal said she was "teary eyed" reflecting how much our son has matured as a student at her school in the last year. Ani also never fails to remind us of one of the most important elements to the challenges of parenting a child with ADHD/ASD, and that's to be kind to yourself. She cares about our family as a whole and we consider ourselves lucky to have discovered her services.

Our sessions with Ani help both my husband and I be on the same page for raising our son.  I have realized the communication between my husband and I can feel like a huge gap that is hard to close.  Ani helps us by building a bridge in our neurodivergent relationship and provides us with techniques and strategies so that we can parent more peacefully, as well as helping us both achieve a more emotionally  balanced life.   It is a work in progress, but after every session I feel more hopeful.  And the relationship between our son and his father is improving bit by bit.

- A.M.L

We are so thankful that we have Ani supporting us through some of our most difficult parenting periods so far.  We have two sons (aged 8 and 10) and a parent with ADHD in our family.  With Ani’s regular guidance and support, we feel less alone, less shame and more confident in our parenting decisions.  Our sessions also improve our overall communication in our marriage.   Due to her personal experience of this diagnosis, she is able to speak about neurodiversity/big emotions with a level of compassion and understanding we’ve not experienced before.  This helps both my husband and I be more vulnerable and honest in our sessions and see situations better through the eyes of our children and therefore be better at maintaining connection through difficult situations.  Thank you Ani!
